Farhan and Kareena to play rival politicians in Dhruv
Kareena Kapoor is bagging several prized roles these days; and a plum one which has fallen into her kitty is Dhruv, being helmed by her Chameli director, Sudhir Mishra. This is also the first time she will be cast opposite Farhan Akhtar in a film.
Mishra reveals intriguing details about the plot of the film, which seems to be a love story against the background of politics, a la Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. He states, “In India, we see many politicians’ sons taking over from their fathers. It’s about one such man and his journey along with that of the woman he loves. When she joins an opposing political party, it becomes a story of war between two people who once loved each other.”
Besides Kareena Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar, Mishra discovery Chitrangada Singh will also star in the film.
Mishra had originally planned to begin Aur Devdas with Lara Dutta, Chitrangada and Shiney Ahuja, but he dropped the idea after he heard of a similar film being made. When he decided to co-produce Dhruv with Farhan Akhtar, Kareena’s dates were difficult to obtain, so it was anybody’s guess, when the film would go on the floors. Mishra reveals, “We will only start with the shooting after the completion of Don 2 (which Farhan Akhtar is directing). This will happen sometime in September so I am planning to release Dhruv in 2012.”
