Farhan keeps unit together
The untimely demise of filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s mother on Saturday evening could have brought to a halt the shooting schedule of Rakeysh’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in Ladakh. But it was the film’s lead actor Farhan Akhtar who averted the situation with his sheer presence of mind.
The director-turned-actor had promised Rakeysh that he would ensure that the shoot remained uninterrupted in his absence. Says a source close to the unit, “In terms of working hours and days, the Ladakh schedule of BMB had been compactly clocked. Every minute lost is precious time gone. On Sunday morning Rakeysh had to fly back to Delhi from Ladakh after being informed of his mother’s death. The good thing about casting a director as your leading man is that the double-role as hero and director comes in handy during such eventualities.”
And that’s exactly what happened. Farhan rose to the occasion and used his expertise to hold the unit together. Rakeysh flew in to Delhi on Sunday morning and flew back on Monday evening. But the shooting continued in Ladakh uninterrupted.
This Milkha just doesn’t stop running.
