Full marks in chemistry
While much has been said about Kareena Kapoor’s super big line-up of upcoming films, acting as she is opposite all the major Khans, it’s Agent Vinod opposite beau Saif Ali Khan that is generating the maximum buzz. They had last acted in Kurbaan, which didn’t really set theatres alight, and even the chemistry between the real-life couple was said to be lacking. So can we expect a turnaround this time around?
“Let’s get it straight, as an actor doing her job, she can’t go around building chemistry with any actor out there; it’s the script that builds the chemistry,” reasons a close associate, “An actor alone can’t do anything. Things like screenplay, dialogues, editing and co-actors come into play. There is nothing that can be done if Kareena or for that matter any other heroine is in a relationship with her co-star, or is a lover or a friend. Look at Bodyguard, she wasn’t in a relationship with Salman in real life but there was such fantastic chemistry on screen.”
But while Bodyguard was primarily a love story, Agent Vinod is a spy thriller, which doesn’t really give much scope for a romantic rendezvous. Kareena, however, says the film needs to be judged on its own merit rather than on the basis of the actors and the relationship they share. “It’s the vision of the director that drives a film, not its actors. And in Agent Vinod, Sriram Raghavan has done just that. The scenes and dialogues ensure that our chemistry is indeed sizzling,” she assures us.
