Gattu rocks on with KPC
Abhishek Kapoor can’t seem to stop grinning. And why not? In just six days at the theatres, his film Kai Po Che has earned more revenues than the entire `27 crore business that his previous hit, Rock On, garnered.
“Yes, this is true,” said one trade source. “Rock On had collected around `27 crore on its release. Now Kai Po Che has crossed this total, with still a day to go for its first-week run to be complete.”
For Abhishek, this is a major win indeed. He had a false start in Aryan — The Unbreakable which suffered due to a delayed release. Then Rock On happened, and Gattu’s directorial career got a new lease of life. Now with Kai Po Che, despite its unconventional theme, narrative, cast and music, Gattu has emerged as a filmmaker to reckon with.
Abhishek is happy with the response the film has received. He recently expressed his gratitude to the KPC team on a social networking site: “We shared a dream and brought it to life with honesty and integrity. You’ve put your soul into it and the world is applauding your efforts. Your contribution is invaluable, and the memories we’ve created together are priceless. Keep shining!”
