Ghai stands firm on Kaanchi release
While his fellow filmmakers are busy juggling the release dates of their films in the month of August, one filmmaker who is not willing to budge is Subhash Ghai. As planned, the director is firm on bringing his film Kaanchi to the theatres on August 30.
Prakash Jha has moved Satyagraha from August 23 to the August 30 and John Abraham capitalised on the opportunity by preponing the release of Madras Café to August 23. “Even Saif Ali Khan’s Bullett Raja has been moved ahead by a week to September 13. With every major filmmaker giving his release plan a rethink, Subhash Ghai seems sure about Kaanchi.”
But the possibility of a change of mind is not being entirely ruled out. “It won’t be surprising if Ghai saab changes plans,” says a source, “After all, there hasn’t been any teaser released either and nor has there been a promotional campaign. Perhaps he is taking his time before making a final announcement.” Considering Subhash has already moved the release date from August 15 to 30, it remains to be seen if he’ll do it again. We tried contacting him but he wasn’t available for comments.
