Globetrotter Khan
It is his desi-themed action money-spinners that have propelled Salman Khan to the top of the B’town ladder. But with his next film, YRF’s Ek Tha Tiger, that may well change. With initial reports that the film would be shot in no fewer then 10 countries (as per the latest updates, there have been sequences set in Ireland, Turkey, Cuba, Iraq, Hong Kong and India), ETT might just end up being one of the most lavish films Sallu’s ever been in. It certainly is one of the most expensive films from the YRF stable, say experts, estimating it to be even costlier than the Dhoom franchise to produce. But does the film’s narrative justify the global setting?
“Look, bhai’s mantra has always been to keep it simple. Look at the locations for Dabangg and Bodyguard. Obviously, if he agreed to globetrot for Ek Tha Tiger, it is because he felt the script demanded it,” says a close associate of the superstar.
The fact that director Kabir Khan was helming the project was also a huge plus as far as Sallu was concerned, our source adds: “Kabir isn’t new to shooting films abroad. He travelled extensively in Afghanistan and the US for his films Kabul Express and New York respectively. So whichever — or how-many-ever — locations he chose for ETT, both bhai and YRF felt it was justified.”
Well, whatever the reasons, it’ll be nice to see the “Dabangg” Khan assume the globetrotter mantle.
