Goa in spotlight once again

A few weeks ago, Dum Maaro Dum was in the eye of storm, as some felt that the film projected Goa in a bad light. Well, what one saw in the Abhishek Bachchan starrer may be just the tip of the iceberg, if the dark world as shown in the Goa of Emraan Hashmi’s Murder 2 is any indication. “Serial killers, pin up models, underbelly of the world of porn, flesh trade, prostitution, massage parlours, kinky sex, cross dressers — all this and much more from the dirty world that one would wish to stay away from forever, would be up for display in Murder 2, which is set in Goa,” informs a senior crew member.
So while there have been so many murmurs, rumours and speculations around the film, the leading man Emraan Hashmi refuses to divulge any details. “Well, I obviously can’t talk much about it right now. However, I can admit that the film deals with a serial killer which is played by me,” he says.
But a source from the film is willing to spill the beans and talks at length about it. “Murder 2 has been inspired by legendary stories of such serial killers and other dark characters. Some of these stories have been myths while others are facts, but the Bhatts and director Mohit Suri have tried to incorporate those elements, which are the most intriguing,” says our source. Another hot topic of discussion is centred on the porn industry. “Murder 2 does deal with crimes related to flesh trade. There are massage parlours shown in the film as also the prostitution that revolves around them. In true Bhatt tradition, the content as seen on the screen would be shocking nonetheless,” adds our source.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
