Golmaal stars demand a sequel

It’s common knowledge now, that in Bollywood, the next best thing after a superhit is a sequel. When director Rohit Shetty started on the Golmaal series, he had no idea that eventually it will grow into a franchise that will become a need for the audience. So even after rolling out three successful Golmaals back to back, the director is not getting a chance to rest on his laurels for a while.
Incidentally, the entire starcast of the film, including Ajay Devgn, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Kareena Kapoor feel that they should make Golmaal 4 in the near future. In fact, they all seem to agree that the camp should make Golmaal an annual affair. Says an official spokesperson of the film, “Rohit has been toying with the idea of starting work on the next Golmaal film. And it was Ajay and Tusshar who put the idea in his mind.”
Ajay, says that he understands how the trade works and knows that Golmaal is a franchise that will only boost his commercial viability. When quizzed on the sequel, he said, “The script of Golmaal 4 should be ready soon after we finish work on Bol Bachchan. Let’s see how it goes.” Leading lady Kareena, who provides the glamour quotient of the franchise, seems totally upbeat about a sequel. A source from the production says, “They are a gang and working with friends is always desirable. After a series of heavy duty films, Golmaal 4 will be a breather for her.”
Tusshar too gives a thumbs up to the idea. “It’s a brand that should be maintained; it’s a necessity as well as a challenge,” he says.
At least this one won’t meet the fate of the jinxed Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham sequel.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
