Hema’s mum on Ahana’s acting

While both Esha and Ahana Deol are trying very hard to make a mark for themselves in the movies, their mother Hema Malini still manages to grab the eyeballs without any effort. Yesteryear’s dream girl Hema continues to remain busy with her dance, producing serials and acting in commercials. Taking a short break from shooting for a

hair oil brand, Hema says, “In the old days we only concentrated on doing films, but today commercials and shows have become an integral part of our careers.” These assignments are as important as movie roles to her now.
Talking about movies she is very excited about her second directorial venture Tell Me Oh Khuda which will star hubby Dharmendra and daughter Esha. “I hope people will like my film as I am very excited that people will see all three of us in it. I can’t wait for its release.”
When it comes to her career, Hema is very open and doesn’t mind answering any questions, but ask her about younger daughter Ahana and she becomes guarded. She refuses to open up about her younger daughter debuting opposite Pratiek Babbar in a Mira Nair film, where the two star kids will play Romeo and Juliet. “Nothing has been confirmed as yet, so it’s too early for me to reveal anything. Once everything is confirmed I will let you know for sure,” she says politely.
After saying she isn’t interested in acting at all, looks like Ahana has had a change of heart. After turning down Dev Anand’s offer to launch her in one of his movies a couple of years ago, Ahana now seems tempted to follow in her parents’ footsteps.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
