Hrithik a yen for awards
Hrithik Roshan wants to do something really special for the IIFA awards this year. If I’m going on that stage, then I would want to do something that I have never done before. So yes, I’m going to be brainstorming about my routine and try to set another bar for myself,” says a resolute Hrithik. The green-eyed actor says that this awards function has been the most special for him, ever since he won his best male debut award for Kaho Na Pyar Hai way back in 2001. “The birth of IIFA was at the same time that I entered this new life of mine. Ever since then I feel that I have grown alongside IIFA,” he says.
However, the growth he has been talking about has seen a somewhat lean phase in recent times with box-office debacles like Kites and Guzaarish. Even in the awards functions, the actor’s stellar performance in Guzaarish was overshadowed on all occasions by fellow nominees like Salman Khan for Dabangg and Shah Rukh Khan for My Name Is Khan.
But Hrithik remains undeterred. “Sometimes you do a movie that become an award and a gift in itself. I am very happy that I have a film like Guzaarish in my life.” Ask him about his expectations and he says, “Of course it would mean a lot to me if I receive an award on such a major platform. But having said that, I also believe that the best must win. If they consider me the best, I’ll be very happy indeed.”
