‘I am very interested in direction’
Konkona Sen Sharma, known for her arthouse roles, delivered a baby boy recently with husband Ranvir Shorey. She chats about movies, marriage and motherhood.
Q How has life changed after marriage?
Not in a huge way actually. I was living with him for three years before we got married. So, in that case, things are not very different. But it is also very early days into the marriage and so far, it’s been so good.
Q Are you ready to resume work post delivering the baby?
I’m excited and looking forward to getting back to work. I am on a break right now, but will get back to working soon.
Q Being a wife and a mother yourself, would you be able to deal with these roles in a better way?
I guess it would help, but it doesn’t make much of a difference. As an actor, you often have to do those roles where don’t have any life experiences. The definition of acting is playing someone who is not yourself. If you have had every experience to portray it properly, it defeats the purpose of acting.
Q As a woman, what is your take on adultery?
Every couple has to figure these things out by themselves. It may affect some people more than the others. I don’t think I would be okay with it; I definitely expect more from my partner.
Q We’ve read that you are turning to direction next.
I am interested in direction but it is a very long term thought. I have no concrete plans.
Q Describe Konkana Sen Sharma is two lines.
I am very neat and clean, and I am very particular about the way I want things to be done.
