‘I continue to think like a filmmaker’
The appreciation that Farhan Akhtar has received for his spectacular performance in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is overwhelming. Farhan, who is originally a filmmaker, seems to have comfortably established his credentials as an actor.
“Since I started my career as a filmmaker, in my head I continue to think as one. But I’m equally charged about my role as an actor. I’m not sure if I am a ‘star’ yet,” he says with a smile.
Farhan insists that despite juggling between filmmaking and acting he never forces his views while working with another director. “Every filmmaker has his own vision. The only time I give my director my inputs or suggestions is when I’m asked,” he informs.
While BMB continues to race ahead at the box office, Farhan has already moved on to his next film Shaadi Ke Side Effects opposite Vidya Balan. People close to Farhan have often said that he consciously avoids getting type- cast. “That’s one of the main reasons why Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra offered me the role of Milkha Singh. I didn’t have a particular image. I hope I’m able to retain that by playing diverse characters,” he says.
