‘I had 100 per cent faith in Aamir’
Aamir and Imran took it on themselves to promote Delhi Belly. Did you feel that you wouldn’t get due credit for the film?
Not at all. They are the biggest stars today, so they will be the people on the forefront. I had 100 percent faith in Aamir. The reputation he holds about taking credit away from people is completely bulls s***t according to me. He is one of the most fair producers I have ever met.
Is Aamir largely responsible for the success of this film?
No other producer would have been able to pull off what Aamir has pulled off. It’s outstanding the way he has marketed and taken this film to where it has gone to.
There was a time when the release of the film was uncertain. Did you lose hope as a filmmaker?
No, I was very sure about this film and I was very clear that no matter how much time it’s going to take, it’s going to release. Of course, there was always the skepticism about how audiences are going to accept the film. But I never lost hope.
After the failure of Game, does Delhi Belly signal your re-launch in Bollywood?
I had worked on Game as hard as I did for DB. I would like to believe that success as well as failure teaches you a lot.
Will you be a part of the DB sequel?
Well, I can only answer that when the sequel gets written; if at all there is going to be a sequel.
