‘I’ve learnt to say no’
After a nuanced performance in Karan Johar’s Gippi earlier this year, Divya Dutta is returning to the big screen with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The actress, who has worked with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra in the past in Delhi 6, plays Farhan Akhtar’s sister in the film.
Speaking of her co-star, Divya says, “I didn’t even recognise Farhan the first time I saw him on the sets. Even in his personality, he just turned into Milkha and he did it so seamlessly. He experiments a lot and adds a lot of his own to a role.”
She enjoyed her sisteract in the film. “I really enjoyed it, especially since I have worked with Rakeysh in the past. He gave me one of my best roles Delhi 6. As far as Bhaag Milkha is concerned, it’s one of my most cherished roles till date. I have different looks in the film since my character goes from 16 to 35 years of age.”
Divya, who has had a bunch of releases this year, is happy with her career now. “These are good times. As an actor, I am in a space where I know what I should do and what I must avoid. Today, I am working with people I want to, like Rakeysh, Karan Johar and Madhur Bhandarkar. The toughest thing that I have learnt is to say no,” says the actress.
