‘I want to do an item number’

She might not look the quintessential Hindi film heroine but that doesn’t deter Kalki from taking up the challenges. After playing the rich snob in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, a tomboy in Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and a daayan in Ek Thi Daayan, Kalki now wants to do an item number.

“Let me tell you that I’m a terrible dancer but despite that I’m looking forward to doing a raunchy item number,” she says. The actress considers this idea as an extension of her experimental streak. “I feel most actresses have a tough time justifying their bold acts. Honestly, if Salman Khan can take off his shirt in every film and get away with it, I think I can do that too.” Kalki, who feels she has managed to make an impact in the industry, assures that she won’t succumb to monotony. “An intelligent mind will choose an intelligent script. And even before you ask, I do not seek my husband’s advice for the scripts offered to me. I’d like to believe that I have the capacity and the sensibility to make my own decisions,” says Kalki.
