Imran is all about romance

Imran Khan barely took off after Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na when his next two films Kidnap and Luck bombed badly at the box office. Hoping to revive his career (and chocolate boy image), he will soon be seen with Sonam Kapoor in I Hate Love Stories.
In the film, Imran plays an assistant director. “It’s a classic romantic comedy set against the backdrop of the film industry. Samir (Dattani) is a famous director, Sonam is a production designer and I’m an assistant director. The director, Punit (Malhotra), has worked as an assistant director to different directors for a long time. And I think a lot of the film is based on real experiences,” says Imran.
While the actor seems to do well in romantic roles, his next film Delhi Belly ironically won’t have any romantic angle. “Delhi Belly is a film about three guys. There’s no romantic track. It’s been made in English it will be for the niche audience. I fell madly in love with the script when I read it. I’d have done anything to be a part of this film. It turned out exactly the way I had visualised it,” says Imran about his uncle Aamir Khan’s home production, which will release next year.
Going back to a romantic film, Imran will also be seen in Danish Aslam’s Break Ke Baad with Deepika Padukone. This project, he says is different from a typical Hindi boy-meets-girl romance. “It’s too early to talk about Break Ke Baad since we’ve only shot for two weeks so far. It doesn’t begin with the boy and girl meeting and falling in love. This couple has already been in a long-term relationship and has just decide to break up,” says Imran.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
