The race to play the world’s most-wanted gangster Dawood Ibrahim in Ekta Kapoor’s sequel of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai has finally come to an end. While most industry insiders were convinced that Shahid Kapoor had beaten others to it, the news of Imran Khan bagging the role has dropped a bomb of sorts in Bollywood. It was an overnight development that has now taken Imran’s commercial viability several notches ahead.
“Imran has done a look test for the role. He has the image of a chocolate hero but that was the real challenge. Before The Dirty Picture, did anyone imagine Vidya as a sex symbol? To make an actor look like the character is Milan Luthria’s USP,” says a source.
Incidentally, Shahid had to step out of the project because his dates were clashing with another film.
As the film is gearing to go on floors, the question on every mind is: How dark can this chocolate get?
