Imran’s got an eye on July
When Imran Khan and mamu Aamir announced that Delhi Belly would release this July, they weren’t just guided by what was the most convenient date. Imran and Aamir have both concluded that July is the luckiest month for the young actor, and have juggled the Delhi Belly dates accordingly.
“Imran’s biggest hits — Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, I Hate Luv Storys — all came out in July,” says a trade watcher. “So Aamir pointed out to Imran that July is indeed a lucky month for his releases.”
Now while the emphasis on July may seem like a bout of superstitiousness on the part of Imran and Aamir, it actually may be nothing more than plain business sense. “Imran’s movies are all targeted towards the youth. Maybe the July date is nothing more than an attempt to corner the summer release market,” says our source.
Now another interesting aspect about Imran’s fixation with July is that only the big Khans so far have slots in the calendar marked solely for their releases. “For instance, Salman has the Eid slot, Shah Rukh has the Diwali slot while Aamir has Christmas to himself,” our source points out.
So is this a sign that Imran has joined the big leagues? Says the heartthrob in question, “This is a good date. Who wouldn’t want to score a hat trick?”
