Agneepath may be the film that’s creating the maximum amount of buzz in B’town right now, but it nearly didn’t get made. In fact, it was a chance conversation between the two Karans (Johar, the producer, and Malhotra, the director) that led to the project being mooted.
Karan M., a staunch Rajkumar Santoshi fan, was apparently part of a group of assistant directors at Dharma Productions who were discussing their favourite films with honcho KJo. Agneepath was the name put forward by Karan, since the genre the film belonged to is one close to his heart. KJo casually wondered if a remake was possible and Karan leaped at the offer. “Within two days flat, KJo summoned Karan to his cabin and asked him if he was up for the challenge,” a source from Dharma reveals. “Karan was excited about the idea, and the rest is history!”
