Irrfan’s comic stint turns sour
He is best known for his sombre expressions and “serious” acting, but all that was set to change with Irrfan Khan’s first ever romcom opposite actress Aditi Hydari that was slated for release next year.
The unusual pairing was being seen as the movie’s greatest USP apart from Irrfan’s first ever out and out comedy avatar. But unfortunately for the actor and his audiences, the film might never see the light of day.
Irrfan confirmed the news saying, “The film is not happening, at least for me. We were waiting for a few corrections in the script but that didn’t happen. I lost track of it after a while and I have stayed away from it since then.”
The actor had apparently liked the core idea of the film but wanted the script to be reworked. From what we hear, producer Anjum Razvi did accommodate the request in a few ways but when it didn’t work out the way Irrfan wanted it, he stepped out.
“His character was rather interesting — a man named Fanney Khan who is part of a band that performs at weddings. He had done something slightly similar in Life In A Metro, but this one would have been much different and he was really looking forward to it,” informs our source.
It’s yet to be seen whether the producers will revive the film with another lead. But if that doesn’t happen, the biggest loser would be Aditi — who will miss out on playing a solo lead in a romcom entertainer.
