Abhay Deol’s stock is so high post-ZNMD that the makers of his next film, Shanghai, are willing to take on none other than Aamir Khan himself, at the box office. “Shanghai’s release has been confirmed for Republic Day i.e.

January 26 next year. Now this is the same date that was locked for Aamir Khan’s next with Reema Kagti, rumoured to be titled Dhuaan,” says a trade source.
This comes as quite a shocker because not many filmmakers dare to release their films at the same time as an Aamir Khan starrer. So the sudden announcement concerning Shanghai has created quite a few ripples. “However, the timing makes sense because Shanghai is a political thriller and reflects the state of the country. With corruption and scams all around us, it is a good marketing strategy to bring a topical film like Shanghai on Republic Day,” our source added. One wonders if Aamir thinks the same.
