It’s getting hot in here!

Ayushmann Khurana and Arjun Kapoor may have thought they were on velvet after their debut flicks Vicky Donor and Ishaqzaade, respectively, managed to bowl over the box office.

But competition’s brewing the male newcomer category and the contenders are Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. Being launched by Karan Johar in Student of the Year, Sid and Varun have the kind of backing that is sure to propel them into the big leagues.
“The playground is getting crowded,” says an eminent trade personality. “Arjun and Ayushmann’s films did business above `40 crore, and they’ve won accolades, but when it comes to the title of ‘best debutant’, Sid and Varun are going to offer stiff competition.”
