It’s Rana’s turn to play a cop
After the runaway successes of Dabangg and Singham it may suffice to say that it’s raining cops in Bollywood these days. The latest to don the uniform is the one-film-old Rana Daggubati for Ram Gopal Varma’s next venture Department and the hunky actor is leaving no stone unturned to get into the skin of a cop.
A source close to Rana says, “There are several police men in his close family friends circle and Rana is having a lot of meetings with them to understand the psyche of a cop. His uncle, especially, has been enthralling him with stories about how being a cop can be exciting and tough at the same time, with different forces pulling you from all directions.”
The actor feels fortunate to know so many policemen from close quarters. “I know quite a few ex-police officers who have shared stories about their encounters and challenges. I guess the excitement of doing a cop film is something that can’t quite be compared. I have watched so many cop films since childhood and now that I am getting a real opportunity to play a cop so early on in my career, I feel really lucky. I’m going to make the best of this opportunity,” says Rana.
