Jha wants Kat for his next film

Katrina Kaif owes a lot to Prakash Jha. It was Jha’s Rajneeti that first portrayed her as a serious actress, someone who’s more than just a pretty face and a glam doll image. But for all the courage that Jha showed in trusting Kat with such a key role, he was rather put off by her. The creative differences the two had while filming Rajneeti meant he left Kat out of his next venture Aarakshan.

But sources close to the director say he’s trying to make amends again, and is very keen to bury the hatchet with Kat. In fact, the buzz is that Jha is even writing a script specifically for Kat to try and entice the actress to sign his film. “Prakash sir has written a script keeping Katrina in mind. She is just apt for the role. We’ll be meeting her very soon to offer her the film,” says a reliable source.
Maybe it was the indifferent form Aarakshan suffered that made Jha revert to Kat, or maybe it’s the Katrina Kaif brand name which has since shot up that did the trick. But it’s the Chikni Chameli chick who’s atop his list for now. Having said that though, he might have to wait a tad longer. Katrina, who’s currently in Cuba shooting for Ek Tha Tiger, has quite a packed schedule ahead of her. “Katrina’s dates are full. After Ek Tha Tiger comes Yashji’s film opposite Shah Rukh Khan and there’s Dhoom 3 as well. Then there are reports she might accommodate Kamal Hassan’s film into this. All of which leaves very little time for Prakash Jha,” says a source close to Kat.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
