A jodi that nearly wasn’t

They may be singing each other’s praises now in rather saccharine tones, but it seems Madhavan wasn’t too happy with having Bipasha Basu for a co-star when filming on Jodi Breakers first started. “Madhavan was already on board for Jodi Breakers when director Ashwini Chaudhary informed him that he was considering Bips for the female lead. Maddy wasn’t overtly enthusiastic about the choice and expressed his reservations to Ashwini,” a little birdie tells us.

“Maddy felt that in terms of sheer physicality and her status as a big ticket B’town star, Bips wouldn’t fit into the Jodi Breakers set-up,” our source added. “Especially after his hit pairing with Kangna Ranaut, he felt the audience might find his jodi with Bips a little odd.”
Bips, however, didn’t let Maddy’s apprehensions influence her. “Instead, she asked Ashwini to have a conversation with Maddy and get him to overcome his reluctance, as she was super-charged about the film and their pairing,” our source says.
Of course Bips shrugs it all off with a “Yes, Maddy was a little apprehensive but it wasn’t really a big deal.”
