Junka bhakar for Riteish
Riteish Deshmukh is quite the next-door Marathi mulga. This man’s food preferences lie in the heartland of rural Maharashtra. He recently confessed to have gorged on Marathi delicacies like junka bhakar, jowari rotis and hurd.
“The delicacy I love from my native place is hurda. It is basically a cob of bajra or jowar that has not fully ripened yet and is quite juicy. You roast this bajra or jowar and it makes a delicious meal with chutney and roti. I would also feast on pitle. In my hometown — Latur, we eat a lot of bajra roti, jowari roti, junka bhakar, chicken and mutton,” says Riteish. Seems like the way to this man’s heart is through the delectable Marathi cuisine. Genelia, can you hear us?
