Is this kahaani really different?

Kunal Kohli is incensed at rumours that his film is similar to Shahid’s previous Mausam

Ever since the first look of the Shahid Kapur-Priyanka Chopra starrer Teri Meri Kahaani have been released, there has been talk that this Kunal Kohli film bears more than a passing resemblance to Shahid’s previous, Mausam.

For one, the plot of a love story spanning time seemed to be common to both films. Next, Shahid and Priyanka’s character evolution in Teri Meri Kahaani seemed to mirror that of Shahid and Sonam in Mausam. That was enough to set tongues wagging.
The rumours clearly haven’t made Teri Meri Kahaani director Kunal Kohli a happy man. “Just because you have a common male lead doesn’t mean that the film has to be the same as well,” he says.
“I have certain style and sensibility of filmmaking,” Kunal added. “Mausam was made by another filmmaker (Pankaj Kapur) while I am making Teri Meri Kahaani. We are totally different. Moreover, Teri Meri Kahaani is about soulmates…but let me tell you that it’s not about reincarnation either.” Well, then how does this love story “span three generations”?
