Kajal was scared of Bollywood
For a Punjabi girl with celluloid aspirations, born and brought up in Mumbai, Bollywood would seem like the best choice. But Kajal Aggarwal took a long and winding route to get here. She worked extensively in Tamil and Telugu films and is now all set to make her Bollywood debut with Singham, but an industry insider told us that Kajal had a previous stint with Bollywood in the Aishwarya Rai starrrer Kyun… Ho Gaya Na, where she played Ash’s friend.
“But the film that proved to be such a big disaster that Kajal never returned to Bollywood again,” says an industry source. Leaving Bollywood behind, she instead aimed for the South, where she found massive success following Magadheera.
Kajal says she did Kyun…Ho Gaya Na as “time-pass”, and that she never wanted to work in the Hindi film industry, as she was scared of it. “I had heard negative things about it and was happier to be in my comfort zone down South,” she adds. Even after agreeing to do Singham, she says she remained quite a recluse, choosing to keep to herself instead of mingling much. “Yes, I was a little restricted but I didn’t want to get into any unnecessary complications and issues then. So I don’t regret it,” she says.
