Kangy’s got Shabana for a role model
Controversy seems determined to follow Kangna Ranaut like a pesky shadow, but for once. There’s some good news concerning the actress. We hear that she showcased her dedication to one and all in the Shootout At Wadala team by preparing exhaustively for her role as dreaded gangster Manya Surve’s love interest.
Incidentally, Kangna played a gangster’s moll in Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai as well, in which she starred opposite Ajay Devgn.
For her role in Shootout, we hear that the actress watched not one, but eight films starring Shabana Azmi! A source from the film’s team let us know that Kangy’s look was modeled on Shabana’s in Arth and Kangy wanted to ensure that not just her costume, even her body language and mannerisms resembled the veteran actress’ completely. She watched Shabana’s films on loop to be able to get everything down pat.
We hear it was director Sanjay Gupta who decreed what Kangy’s look in the film would be like. “This time too, Kangna is ready to surprise people. Her look is de-glam in a way, but totally in character,” Sanjay shared.
