Katrina to play lead in Dhoom 3

If we needed any indication that Katrina Kaif is indeed the numero uno actress in Bollywood right now, here we have it: The lissome lass has been roped in to play the female lead in Dhoom 3 opposite Aamir Khan. This despite extensive lobbying for Deepika Padukone and other Hollywood actresses to get the same role.

Industry insiders say Kat’s latest achievement is a telling statement on how far she’s travelled from her Boom days. “When Boom went bust, no one really thought that Kat would one day be starring in one of the most successful film franchises. But her face, her ultra glamorous avatar and her steep market value have all made her perfect for the role,” says a trade source.
Sources say that the fact that Kat is also in two of YRF’s other prestigious films may have earned her some brownie points. “Kat’s put in a lot of work for Ek Tha Tiger and the new film opposite SRK…in fact, Yashji was a little reluctant because Kat has such a solidly packed schedule for the next two years,” our source tells us, adding, “But the success of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan convinced him.”
Seems like Dhoom Macha Le could very well be the new theme song for Kat’s life.
