Khans watch out
Nobody has dared take on the industry’s big Khans at their own game before, and indications would seem to suggest things are finally about to change. Shah Rukh, Salman and Saif Ali Khan may all be planning to incorporate big budget, VFX laden action sequences for their upcoming films, making them the most awaited ones in recent months. However, in the middle of all this, a small film along similar lines but comprising largely newcomers, Aazaan, is making ripples in the industry.
SRK’s Ra.One and Don 2, Saif’s Agent Vinod and Salman’s Ek Tha Tiger have all been in the news for a while, helping Aazaan — which also belongs to the action thriller genre — has slipped under the radar. “Like Agent Vinod and Ek Tha Tiger, it has an espionage/spy angle to it. And it’s also abound with special effects like Ra.One,” says a filmmaker who has managed to catch a sneak peek of the flick.
Starring newcomer Sachiin Joshi, the film has been shot in several countries including France, Morocco, China, Germany, Poland, South Africa and Thailand. “It deals with the subject of biological wafare, as yet an untouched subject in Bollywood,” informs a source from the production unit. “And we aren’t competing with the Khans or their films. But having said that, we haven’t spared any expense in making the film as visually appealing as possible.”
