‘The khiladi will be back in 2012’
Akshay Kumar had a year he would rather forget in a hurry. His big budget films like Desi Boyz, Tees Maar Khan and Thank You all tanked badly, taking him down the pecking order. But the star is unfazed by the flops, and insists he will have a better 2012.
Considering his line-up includes films like Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore, Joker, Khiladi 786 and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2, it’s with good reason that he feels so.
“Also, all his films for 2012 are action thrillers. He’s acted in a lot of different films this year, showing off his versatility, and wants to consciously focus on action next year,” says an associate. “He’s done enough of comedies like Housefull, an intense family drama in Patiala House, an action-comedy in Thank You and a ‘dramedy’ in Desi Boyz. He’s not at all been repetitive, contrary to the popular perception about him, and is just looking forward to some fresh projects.”
But action is where Khiladi Kumar cut his teeth initially in Bollywood, and action is what he will be focussing on. “I’m getting in shape for my next action film Rowdy Rathore, and my fans can get ready for some serious action fury. I have great action scripts in hand, and throwing myself at my punching bag,” he reveals, excitedly, adding that he has been just as busy before. “I finished three films, signed three more, and just promoted and released one Desi Boyz.”
