King Khan conquers Germany
His last outing Ra.One may have got mixed reviews, but Shah Rukh Khan has proved once again that one mediocre film can do no harm to his kingly status. Recently, he became the only Indian actor to have successfully shot a film sequence in Germany, a country that is infamous for denying requests of international film shoots. Even Hollywood doesn’t boast too many examples besides superstars Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. And now it’s SRK who has joined the exclusive league.
“Unlike the US, UK and Thailand, it isn’t easy to obtain permission to shoot in Germany. The rules are very strict and in order to be eligible one needs to clear at least 47points out of 60,” says a production executive. Since no Indian film has ever been in a co-production with Germany before, SRK, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani had a task cut out for them. Ritesh says, “Shah Rukh’s popularity in Germany helped us a great deal in securing permission and once we were through, the authorities were extremely helpful.”
Well, suffice to say the King does rule supreme, right from Mumbai to Munich!
