KJo does Ekta friendly favour

That Ekta Kapoor is a powerhouse in the entertainment industry doesn’t need to be stated. Add to that her personal connections with prominent industry denizens, and it’s small surprise indeed that Ekta gets her way when it comes to her pet projects. And so has been the case with the entertainment awards she’s instituted.

In its previous edition, Ekta’s starry friends like Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor have graced and even hosted the event, but this year, Ekta found herself at a bit of a loss when it came time to settle on a compere. Finally, she requested her buddy Karan Johar to step in.
“Since these awards are for the TV industry, a strong name is needed to hold the evening together. None of the names that were shortlisted seemed to fit Ekta’s need. So it was extremely generous of Karan to agree to step in at her request,” a source close to Ekta revealed.
Considering Karan’s experience in handling all matters related to hosting these big ticket events, we’re sure a steady stream of one-liners and witticisms are in order.
