Look who’s back on the silver screen

In the 80s, holding their own alongside such superhit pairings like Hema Malini-Dharmendra and Rekha-Amitabh, was the delightfully offbeat pairing of Farooque Sheikh and Deepti Naval. The duo acted together in seven films, each one quirkier than the other. After a long hiatus, they will be back on the silver screen with not one but but two upcoming films: Tell Me Oh Khuda and Listen Amaya.

Describing the experience of working opposite Farooque as “nostalgic”, Deepti says they have been catching up and talking about old memories. “He is a lot into his cellphone these days than he was before,” she laughs. “But meeting him did spark off old memories. We spoke of director Sai Paranjpe, the late Ravi Baswani, the films of old times. The experience was really nice and nostalgic.” — BNS
