Lovebirds to turn co-stars again

So after all the flip-flops and drama, Bollywood’s favourite lovebirds are all set to unite on screen once again. Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor, who had a very public break-up, went their own ways, vowing never to work with each other again. But an equally public change of hearts later, they are all set to reunite with Karan Johar’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
“Deepika and Ranbir are extremely excited about coming together on screen. It has been years since they last worked together in Bachna Ae Haseeno. They looked extremely good together in that film and it was a pity that personal issues cropped up between them. Now that time has healed the heartbreak they went through, it’s back to business,” says a mutual friend, adding that they are very keen to make the most of the elapsed time.
And it seems it was Karan and director Ayan Mukherjee who acted as the catalysts in working this coup. But now that their film is all set to go underway, Dippy couldn’t be happier about it. “Contrary to what people may have thought, there was never any tension between Ranbir and I,” she says. “We remained friends throughout and there was never a cold silence between us. We were never cut off from each other’s plans. And moreover, Ayan is so young and talented, and it’s about time all of us worked on a film together.”
It’s a sentiment Ranbir too seems to be echoing. “We are both looking forward to a film that would justify our presence, and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has turned out to be such a film. It’s great to be back working with Deepika,” says Ranbir, barely able to contain his excitement.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
