Mad rush before IPL

As the IPL is set to kick off in April, filmmakers are in a mad rush to release their films before cricket frenzy takes over the country. Next week onwards till the beginning of the tournament, as many as 30 films are slated for release.

Surprisingly, very few of these are filler releases as most of them boast of big names. Some notable titles of the bunch comprise Race 2, Murder 3, David, Kai Po Che, Zila Ghaziabad, Special 26, Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster Returns and Himmatwala to name a few.
While trade experts are not very optimistic about the rush of releases, filmmakers have their own reason. A filmmaker on condition of anonymity says, “Even biggies have decided not to release their films during the IPL. Waiting till after the tournament is not a viable option either as that’s when summer releases are lined up. One has to take chances.”
