Marital bliss propels Imran’s acting career
Marriage has done Imran Khan a world of good. Imran’s career, which was floundering about a year ago, has taken off in a great way with back-to-back hits. If that wasn’t all, he’s got another big budget film, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu coming up. Is it marital bliss or is it better films coming his way? Or is it the adventurous streak he has shown in signing up “off-beat” topics?
Imran himself thinks it’s the latter. “When you do a good film, you get appreciated. I had failures, but mainly because the film itself didn’t live up to people’s expectations. When I went off-track and did a film like Delhi Belly, it received tremendous appreciation. The only thing that matters is the quality of the film,” Imran says.
While marriage resulted in a turnaround of his films’ fortunes, in his personal life, he says, he’s become more subdued. “There have been no changes as such in me. If anything, I have become less romantic,” he says.
And once he’s wrapped up Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Imran will continue with the experimental cinema he’s been pursuing. “I got Mattru Ki…, which is a very exciting prospect because I’m working with Vishal Bharadwaj on it. I’m really looking forward to it, as it will be very different from the films I have done before,” he says.
