A marriage of convenience
Marriages may be made in heaven, but film releases are definitely made keeping business in mind. Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza are getting married this weekend, and coincidentally enough, their first film together in eight years Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, is releasing just three weeks later.
“By the look of affairs, it is quite apparent that this was planned,” comments an insider, “They have been planning to tie the knot for ages now, so deciding to work on a film together and release it in the same month as the wedding does strike one as suspicious. It’s likely that they signed a film, only to plan it in such a manner that there is hype at both ends.”
Riteish, however, denies there was any planning. “When the film was offered to me, I wasn’t even aware who would be my co-star. I agreed to the film because I liked the script,” he says simply. “And the shooting was scheduled to begin in December, but since I was free in between, we decided to use that time. Had things gone according to plan, the film would have released later.”
