Matru... faces new threats
Until a few months ago, all was hunky dory with team Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola. The film has been confirmed as one of the first major releases of 2013. It is also placed at a safe distance of three weeks from mega release Dabangg 2 giving Vishal Bharadwaj every reason to feel positive about the film’s outcome.
But things seem to have changed now, and not for the better.
“The biggest jolt has come in the form of Kamal Haasan’s spy thriller Vishwaroop. It is now threatening to take Vishal’s film by the horns on January 11,” informs a trade insider. Doubling the scare factor is Ekta Kapoor who has bagged its distribution rights. “She is known for her marketing and promotional prowess. Now with this film, she is going to go all out,” a source adds.
Add to this, the collective release of a few small films such as Inkaar, Akaash Vani and Mumbai Mirror is expected to demand space in both multiplexes and single screens, making things more challenging for Matru....
Will Imran and Anushka manage to save the day?
