Meet B’town busybees: Abhi, Akki and Ajay

mov2.jpg

The busiest actors in 2010 seem to be Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn. The stars have the most number of projects to their credit, and have been shooting back-to-back without a break.
Akki has Priyadarshan’s Khatta Meetha, Vipul Shah’s Action Replay and Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan in the bag. He’s currently busy shooting for Anees Bazmee’s Thank You and Nikhil Advani’s Patiala House. Come November and Akki will start work on Rohit Dhawan’s Desi Boys.
Ajay doesn’t even have time to bask in the success of Rajneeti. Home production Toonpur Ka Super Hero beckons, as do the shoots for Milan Luthria’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Priyadarshan’s Aakrosh and Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 3. He then begins work on Madhur Bhandarkar’s Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Jee.
All eyes are on the Junior Bachchan as the release date for Raavan draws near. Close on its heels will follow Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey and Rohan Sippy’s Dum Maaro Dum, and an Abhinay Deo film. Next up is Tarun Mansukhani’s Dostana sequel and Goldie Behl’s as yet untitled venture.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
