A ‘method’ to Vivek’s madness
He may have lost out in the media wars, but there’s no denying that where his craft is concerned, Vivek Oberoi is at core, an accomplished actor. From his debut turn as Chandu in Ram Gopal Varma’s Company to his latest outing in Rakesh Roshan’s Krrish 2, Vivek believes in leaving no stone unturned to make his characters truly believable. And his Heath Ledger’s Joker-esque portrayal in Krrish 2 may just be the most stellar role of his career, say trade sources.
“Vivek plays a consummate gambler in Krrish 2 and he is going all out to ensure that the character comes across as extremely believable,” says a source connected to the film. “In fact, there is now a standing joke between his friends and family members that if he can’t be found at his usual haunts, then he is probably at some gambling den for the well-heeled. He has also been taking lessons from professional artistes on the right way to shuffle, how to perform various tricks…you name it.”
Friends of the actor say that he is consumed by his portrayal as Hrithik Roshan’s nemesis in the movie. Impressive, but Vivek, don’t forget what they say about all work and no play...
