Mommy knows best, for Sona

The busybody mummy who had final say over everything that a Bollywood heroine was entitled to seems to have been resurrected. The buzz in B’town is all about how Poonam Sinha has taken charge of beti Sonakshi’s career. Apparently, mummy dearest has ensured that Sona follows some ground rules.

One of these newly minted rules includes not signing any film with a newcomer as the male lead. “The brief for Sona is clear — she has to regain her position in the Salman Khan camp,” said one source close to the Sinha family. “After her ouster as the brand ambassador for Sohail’s cricket team, she has been missing from the Khan camp. And that seems to be worrying Poonamji. Her family wants Sona to do films with top notch actors.”
Now barring Joker, all of Sona’s films have struck gold at the box office and the Sinha family is determined to keep it that way. Being seen in the company of A-list actors is essential, so perhaps mom Poonam’s diktats are justified.
