My first reaction to NOKJ was no: Rani
Jigar Shah
QA lot is expected from No one Killed Jessica. Are you hopeful too?
Well, that will depend on how the film fares. I have always been a very happy-go-lucky person. I feel bad when people write that Rani is finished, but I also feel good that it gives me an opportunity to bounce back.
Q Would you have liked to exchange your role in No One Killed Jessica with Vidya?
No, I’m very happy with my role. Also, we weren’t given any choice. The makers were sure who they wanted for what role. It’s better to go with the director’s conviction.
Q Did your acting style gel with Vidya’s?
From what I could make out while shooting, she is a method actor. She prepares a lot for her roles. I remember when she has to do a serious scene, she is very quiet. She was surprised when she worked with me because I do a lot of masti on sets.
Q How was it to work with Rajkumar Gupta?
I judge a director by the script he brings to me. At the end of the day it is about the script. The fact that Raj has done a film called Aamir didn’t colour my decision about the film. Actually, my first reaction for the film was to say no.
Q If you were a journalist in real life, which beat would you have covered?
I would have definitely been a crime reporter, and once I got bored of it, I would become a Bollywood reporter.
