Neha’s laughing her way to the box office
For an actress who made waves in her sex kitten avatar, it seems strange that Neha Dhupia has now made comedy her forte. But a look at her last few releases — Singh Is Kingg, De Dhana Dan, Raat Gayi Baat Gayi — which have had varying degrees of success at the box office, proves that the actress can carry off the comedy as well. And while comedy is a difficult genre, Neha says it is one she is comfortable with.
“I enjoy doing comedies and don’t think it’s difficult. It offers complete entertainment and people enjoy watching such movies. Also, I don’t doubt my capabilities as an actor,” says Neha of her recent laughathons.
The actress is now looking forward to her next film Dear Friend Hitler. Neha says, “It’s too early to talk about the film, but there are other releases I’m looking forward to, Vipul Shah’s Action Replay, Pappu Can’t Dance Saala and Subhash Kapoor’s With Love To Obama. I play a village thug in the film. For someone who likes wearing western clothes, playing a village girl was challenging.”
Despite the ups and downs in her career graph, Neha says she enjoys her work. “I don’t think I could take up any other profession. Entertaining people gives me a high. Acting is a liberating profession,” she says.
