No item numbers, thank you

Zarine Khan, who was much appreciated for her item number Character Dheela in Ready, has had enough of it. Zarine says that she wants to move into more serious roles, even if it means putting a stop to item numbers altogether.

“I’m glad that people are finally taking notice of me. I’m glad they have liked my song with Salman,” Zarine says, adding that cashing in on its popularity is definitely out. “I have been turning down a lot of offers to do stage shows and item songs. And while I’m not averse to doing these numbers, I want to concentrate more on work as an actor,” she says.
And doing so, she is going against the current popular trend, which has all the leading ladies of Bollywood try their hands (or legs) at doing item numbers. “I don’t want to be remembered just as a good face. There’s more to me,” she laughs in response.
