Nostalgia strikes
Despite being a historic box office debacle, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom is still remembered as the first film that brought together the second generation of Sholay actors — Abhishek Bachchan and Bobby Deol. So when the two joined hands again for Players, nostalgia was bound to strike, albeit in a fun way.
The two kept entertaining everyone on the sets with their Sholay enactments. Recalls actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, “I remember this one incident in Goa, where I was sitting between Bobby and Abhi and I thought it was an apt moment for me to sing Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge. It was a very surreal moment.”
In fact, the sets of Players was very much like a party for star kids with actors such as Sonam Kapoor and Sikander Kher too being part of the gang. A source says, “Neil and Sikander are childhood friends, so they got along very well with each other. But the centre of attraction was the camaraderie between Abhishek and Bobby. Every now and then, they used to burst into Sholay dialogues, entertaining the entire crew.”
But will they be able to create a cult of their own with Players? The verdict is still awaited.
