Not to be compared

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza’s upcoming film, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, has drawn plenty of comparisons with Jab We Met, which also starred (then) real life couple, Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor. But neither Riteish nor Ginny want to cash in on even that superficial resemblance. Is it because they’re spooked by how the Shahid-Kareena relationship ended?
“The parallel between Jab We Met and Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya and Shahid-Kareena and Riteish-Ginny is a fleeting one at best,” says a friend of the to-be-married couple. “Let’s not forget that Riteish and Ginny will be married by the time their film releases, while Shahid and Kareena had already broken up by the time theirs did.”
But comparisons are bound to creep in, considering that Tere Naal also has an exuberant girl (Ginny) running away from her wedding with Riteish’s help. Riteish asks that the story be judged on its own merit: “Jab We Met had its own beauty and our film has its own.”
