Not ‘sexy’ anymore

Being the sexiest heroine in the industry is definitely a double-edged sword, as Bipasha Basu would testify. Over the past decade, she has consistently been among the hottest Bollywood heroines, but now Bips has had enough. She wants to break free of the “sexy” tag, and do more comedies instead.
“Bipasha does enjoy all the adulation that comes her way. She also realises that the audience won’t accept her in a de-glam avatar, as the debacle of an Aakrosh proved. But having worked in a light-hearted film like Jodi Breakers, she feels this is the way to go,” says a friend of the actress.
“Truth be told, this is my first real rom-com. With the film, I realised I’m good at comedy, and there is a personal reflection of me as well in the character. But sometimes you do tend to get stereotyped,” she laments.
