Not-so-dirty motivation for Dirty Picture

For those who have seen images of Vidya Balan in her avatar as Silk Smitha for The Dirty Picture, it is obvious that the actress has gone in for a transformation on more levels than one. While she had to put on a lot of weight for her role as the voluptuous South siren, Vidya also had to expose more skin on screen than she has before. While Vidya is known to go the extra mile for all her roles, this time, producer Ekta Kapoor offered her suitable inducement: The National Award.
We hear that Ekta, who has enjoyed critical and commercial success for Love Sex Aur Dhoka and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, is now eyeing the prestigious honour for The Dirty Picture. And she is convinced that with a powerhouse performer like Vidya, it is within reach.
“Vidya has turned in a sensational performance, so the National Award is guaranteed,” Ekta says. In the meantime, Vidya herself is busy hitting the gym. Guess she needs to prepare for her big awards night, right Ekta?
